 Silver Jewelry can be very tricky and many shops in the Pueblo Colorado area do not have trained Silversmiths and will not work on silver jewelry.  Silver jewelry takes more work than Gold jewelry to repair because in most cases stones need to be removed before the repair. Traditional heat sink methods used by Goldsmiths many times will not work with silver and can possibly damage or destroy the stones set in the jewelry.  Silver jewelry also takes more heat for traditional soldering techniques, and of course the bigger the piece the more heat that is necessary. Some repairs can be done in our shop by heat-less methods without removing the stones such as earring posts.

Do I have a nickel Allergy?

Symptoms of a nickel allergy arise from contact, usually repeated contact with items containing the metal nickel or various nickel compounds.

Nickel Allergy- common symptoms

The most common symptom is chronic itching (purities). The itching is often combined with a red rash, raised bumps and broken skin. Itchy red rash around your belt buckle or blue jeans button that often contains nickel, or an itchy rash around your watch or on the ears in the case of nickel earrings. Itchy rash on ring finger or over areas where nickel-containing jewelry might be worn is often associated with this nickel sensitivity or allergy. Most medical dermatologist can do patch tests to determine if you have nickel sensitivity but most medical doctors do not have a treatment for this condition other than instructing you to avoid contact with nickel containing jewelry, belt buckles, buttons etc. Most Sterling Silver and Yellow Gold Jewelry does not have Nickel in it. White Gold Jewelry has been made with Nickel but new alloys contain no Nickel.

have become a very popular service in the Pueblo Colorado area.  Rick Sindeband jeweler and watch repairman for Skystone and Silver LLC,  in the Historic Mesa Junction shopping area has seen an increase in demand for these jewelry repair services. Ring sizing both in Gold and Silver,  Diamond ring repairs, remounts (a remount is taking the stone out of a ring you will no longer wear and mounting it in a new ring), watch batteries,  watch crystals, chain and bracelet repairs, earring posts and clip repairs, cleaning and general inspection are usually no charge.  A specialty of the store is to take old jewelry (Silver or Gold) that you own and make you something new with it, very Eco friendly and Green too.  Rick has been in the Mesa Juction for nine years right in front of the Statue of Columbus. Try his services some people say he’s the best others know it from experiences they have had.
