Capricorn The tenth zodiacal sign, the goat Capricorn, is a cardinal, female, earth sign ruled by Saturn and represents order and stability. According to the tradition of Ancient Greece, Pan transformed himself into a goat to escape Typhon, thus becoming half goat and half fish, and was then made a constellation by Zeus. Its name is a composite of the Latin words for goat (caper) and horn (cornu). Those born under this sign (between December 22 and January 20 ) are ambitious, practical, cautious and scholarly, but these qualities can be twisted into those of intransigence, lack of sympathy and selfishness. The sign was once represented by Capricornus, the mythological goat-fish, and the sigil reflects this fabulous creature's dual realm by representing earth and sea.
